Happy Birthday Johnny Appleseed
Today we celebrated Johnny Appleseed's Birthday! We had a few mom's come in and play some games with us and make apple treats with us. We had apples with some yummy caramel dip. We were lucky to try some apples that grow on one of our student's apple trees. We also did some apple art. The last couple weeks, in our Reading Street, we've been talking about tall tales and what it means to exaggerate so Johnny Appleseed fit right in. :) We've learned about John Chapman, A.K.A. Johnny Appleseed and some of his many exaggerated adventures. We did some comparing and contrasting with the animated cartoon of Johnny Appleseed and the book written by Steven Kellogg. Overall, it's been a great day!
It was so much fun being there today. What a fun way to celebrate Johnny Appleseed's special day!
